I have had the unfortunate experience of reading the literary abortion that the sequel is to be based off of. I wouldn't have minded a backstory prequel based off of Susan Kay's novel (which is brilliant), but "Phantom of Manhattan" is just retarded.

*Spoilers*

Erik becomes a corporate tycoon who worships a gold god, Mammon(yeah you read that right). Since Raoul was castrated in a gun fight, Erik is by default the father of Christine's son(although, I can't see how they managed that given ALW's timeline). His kid, finding out that the man who raised him for 13 years is not his biological father, decides to stay behind with Erik, who he literally just meets. It's a horrible fanfic put to print. Please for the love of all that is good in the universe don't bother wasting money seeing this sequel when it comes out.

No way! Nothing can top the original musical. You can't reproduce the same effect that musical has.

I agree with you 100%. My heart would simply shatter into pieces if a sequel would either A: taint the reputation of ALW by being absolutely dreadful. or B: turn out to be a success and put out the original- I don't want to see it close just because of a sequel :(
If this musical is based on the Frederick Forsythe novel then there is no way in making it the least bit tolerable. The book ruins the orginial story completely and is absolute trash. Why, ALW.....why ruin your masterpiece when you already have billions of dollars? And FURTHERMORE- he wants to cast Gerard Butler as the London lead! Ok, I personally have nothing against the guy, and he was fine for the movie- I guess he appealed to a younger audience. But let's face it, there is NO way he has the pipes to carry a professional stage show, let alone play a role with that much demand 8 times a week. It seems to me that ALW has completely shifted from his original creation of the character in M. Crawford to a younger, sexier version just to draw in the younger generation.
I hope that cat erases the score again because I DO NOT want to hear any attempt at a sequel to one of the most beautiful scores of our time.

What can I say? I wish I could give a grade higher than an A. It's wonderful when a student takes such pride in her work. You should be very proud of your effort in this class and I was very proud to have you as a student. Continued success!

I agree with everything you wrote to a T! And I guess I'm a little biased because I LOVE DAVID ARCHULETA but I totally agree with all the other ones too! Thanks, it's nice when people recognizes when David does good, most articles it doesn't matter what he does, they just talk about him being boring or too young!

It is ridiculous-- just one was enough. Now it's just starting to get like a Disneyfied Degrassi combined with Space Jam and The Lion King. If that makes any sense.
